Tenets for org building
Building an organization that thrives takes more than just strategy- it demands an unwavering commitment to core principles that shape every decision, interaction, and challenge. These tenets, distilled from my firsthand experience, serve as a playbook for co-building with integrity, high agency, and relentless execution. I write this at the genesis of an important chapter in my life, shaped by deep introspection, countless interactions with some of the most competent minds, and far too many rabbit-hole explorations and philosophical ponderings.
No Ego
There’s no harm in giving in-always surrender 100%. But this only works if everyone follows suit. If someone lets ego creep in, practice radical candor. Call them out with kindness, gently reminding them of this company policy. Seal it with a handshake or a hug-whatever it takes to reset the vibe.
High Agency
Be relentless. Stop at nothing. Do what’s needed and then push beyond the expected whenever you can.
Be Output-Driven
Ask yourself: What did I deliver? How did I add value? If you’re drawing a blank, you’re off track.
Honesty and Ethics Triumph All
Stay ethical. Never sacrifice integrity-no exceptions. Life’s too precious for short-sighted games.
Trust Freely
Trust the people you work with-or better yet, only work with those you intuitively trust. Trust should come naturally; give it generously. If that trust breaks, don’t hesitate to walk away.
Give Before You Take
Always lead with value before seeking any reward-money, recognition, or otherwise. Give first, and watch the magic unfold. It’s the smoothest path to getting what you want with minimal friction. Prove you can walk the talk, and the world bends to your greatness, no matter the scale-oceans part before you.
“Your true worth is always determined by how much more you give in value than you take in payment.” – Bob Burg, The Go-Giver
Radical Candor
Call out nonsense when you see it. Make it clear your feedback comes from a place of care-for the person, yourself, and the organization.
Strike to Kill
Be a force of nature. Relentless. Unstoppable. When you act, hit with precision and power-no half measures.
Look at the Data
The greatest value comes from spotting patterns, making sense of chaotic data, and connecting the dots. Aim for every decision to be grounded in evidence. Ask, “Why are we doing this?” But if a true hunch strikes-not just a whim, but a deep, instinctive pull-trust your gut over the numbers and swing big. Strong intuition often flows from subconscious data you haven’t fully clocked.
